To expand the geography of its foreign projects and increase exports, the power engineering company plans to introduce two new, crucial technologies that are not yet used in Russia.
This was announced by Timur Lipatov, CEO of Power Machines, in an interview with PRIME business news agency.
He said that, first, it would be necessary to restore the manufacturing of Russian-made medium and large capacity gas turbines and, secondly, to design a pulverized coal-fired boiler and an ultra-supercritical steam turbine. The company has already prepared the design documentation for a 660 MW ultra-supercritical steam turbine, and Power Machines are ready to manufacture it as soon as it is ordered.
To promote the products in international markets, it is necessary first to manufacture and introduce them in Russia. In the future, with good references, the power engineering company will be able to enter its traditional markets in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
Currently, the main share of international projects being implemented by Power Machines is in the nuclear and hydraulics areas, where the company competes on a par with global manufacturers. Some projects involve steam power units (the reconstruction of previously supplied machines, and the manufacture of equipment for burning fuel oil and crude oil). The export share of Power Machines varies but, on average, it amounts to about 50 %.
